Review: MATIER Makeup Book Set - Issue No. 02, Frutto Foresta

Today I am going to review one of the most aesthetically pleasing makeup brands from Korea, Matier. they have taken the makeup concept to another level and I love how they do not stick to the basic stone tone concept and make makeup look more fun and moody.

MATIER

Matièr is a Korean beauty brand that thinks, Depending on your various desires such as the mood or the atmosphere of the day, different colors can be chosen from the palette. There is an infinite number of moods as there is an infinite number of colors on the spectrum. Matièr has carefully selected a color palette that will bring those moods into life, offering you the opportunity to find your own undiscovered aura. Taking this idea of the ‘book’ as the main design motif, Matièr presents a theme and a story, expressed through a combination of colors. The Makeup Book is not a simple container of lip colors, eyeshadow, and blusher; comprised of a story attached to the selected mood and visual images that express it, the Makeup Book functions as a book that will bring in new inspirations to your life. If you choose to continue your journey of finding new colors through Matièr, each color that you have tried on will be kept as an archive. Also, by using the Key Color Index, you will be able to intuitively and efficiently retrieve a color that you visited a while ago.

The simple grid system made up of lines and surfaces, the arrangement of texts that fit into the grid, and the matte black finish emphasize the motif of the ‘book,’ and at the same time, bring the colors and textures of the product to the center of your attention. The only shining part of the design—the copper line—expresses our wish to create a bond between you and our selected mood, through the act of putting on makeup. With visual images and texts that express a special mood, the Matièr Makeup Book will be a beautiful object wherever you place it—on your dresser, in your bag, in your study, or even at your office.

MATIER MAKEUP BOOK 

Matier has introduced 3 of the makeup book set in total for now. I choose the most fun-looking one as I don’t have many colorful palettes and most Asian brands stick to the neutral shades so I want to try them to see how good they did a job to create these makeup books. I choose Issue 02 #FruttoForesta which seems perfect for summer. with the pop of mint, orange, and lemon soda.

You get 2 lipsticks, 2 blushes, and 6 eye shadows to create an overall look.

Matier's inspiration behind this makeup book is to Imagine walking through a forest filled with an abundance of fruit, water, and flora. Under the transparent sunshine, the freshness of clean water, and the acidity of fresh fruits, you feel your connection to the freshness. Perhaps the scent of summer is not the damp and sultry drag, but rather the crispness of orange, mint, and lemon soda sparkling in your mouth. Feel free to express your exuberance, radiating brighter in the summer.

MY THOUGHTS

The case is made of sturdy cardboard outside like a book and once you open it the inner case is sturdy plastic which is more reliable, the eye shadows and blushes are fixed in the car while you have to pull out the lipsticks in a specific way. The lipsticks came in their separate cases so you can puLL them out and put them in your bag.

LIPS

There are two lipsticks given in each book set and in Frutto Forsta set, both have different finishes.

01 Mellow: it is a coral red lipstick that is highly pigmented and has a cream finish, like to tap some transparent powder to make it last a little longer.
02 Jelly Pool: it is an orange color glossy finish lipstick that does have a nice amount of pigment but is not as pigmented as usually, lipsticks are, more like a tinted lip balm with more color and jelly balmy texture.

I personally like to wear jelly pool more as it keeps my lips moisturized and looks more natural on me.One thing I want to fix is that these don't go back in even if you twist them back so you have to press them with your fingers gently at the same time, maybe this is an error in my lipsticks cases but I want to make sure they know about it. Also, they have recommended not twist all the lipstick at once as it can break easily. I haven't noticed any kind of scent in these lipsticks by Matier. Overall the packaging of the lipstick is sleek, slim, and feels luxurious and the formulation is quite nice as well. They do stain lips a little bit as well.

EYES

There are 6 eye shadows and 5 of them are matte while one is sheer shimmer.

03 Straw Hat: it is a matte, peachy yellow color that can be used as a base as well.
04 Sundress: it is a matte, light yellow color that can be used as a base or main.
05 Hidden Gem: it is a sheer champagne color shimmer.
06 Mint Soda: matte mint color shadow which has nice pigmentation.
07 Orange Peel: it is the matte, orange shadow that is nicely pigmented.
08 Bonbon: it is a medium brown matte shadow.

I like the selection of the eyeshadows as you can create neutral to fun eye looks with them, most of the colors are wearable on a daily basis so I think most people will enjoy it. The matte shadows have different pigmentation levels which are also mentioned on their official site. The matter is powdery but applies nicely, the formulation is not the smoothest in term of texture but they blend well and looks nice so I cannot complain.

CHEEKS

There are two neutral color blushes in this set.

09 Apricot Jam: it is the matte blush which is a neutral beige with a hint of peach.
10 Hummingbird: it is a lovely matte beige blush with a hint of pink to it.

Both blushes are sheer and are buildable which are great for beginners as well and work nicely as an eye base. They do have some fallout but they do work well on the skin and blend easily.

Overall, I am impressed with this set and would love to try their other book sets, I Will highly recommend this one set to whoever wants to play with some colors but in a safe way. You can purchase Matier Makeup book set from their official site and from Beauty Box Korea.
